2005 Geyser Peak Sauvignon Blanc
Classic aromas of grapefruit, citrus, lemon zest and lemongrass jump out of the glass and proudly proclaim the wine’s varietal character. A generous, fruit-forward palate shows juicy citrus flavors of grapefruit and tangerine, balanced by bright, crisp acidity. The pleasant finish is persistent with great length of flavor. Perfect as an apéritif, this wine also makes an ideal partner to oysters and nearly any shellfish, as well as salads and light fish and chicken dishes.
This wine was produced by my good friend Ondine Chattan.
I first meet Ondine at an International wine judging and always look forward to
talking to her about what's new at Geyser Peak, where she has been
promoted to Director of Winemaking. She not only had a hand in making this
great Sauvignon Blanc but many of the wines from this great
Sonoma producer!
This is a new age Sonoma Sav Blanc with New Zealand influence in the nose but that fruit forward, round flavor that makes it the complete package!
Can you say "Gooseberry?"
